Everyday Democracy: Looking for Program Director and Vice President of Finance and Operations

Program Director

Everyday Democracy seeks a Program Director to be a critical member of its Community Assistance team. The Program Director will assist local communities in applying democratic and participatory approaches to community change, bringing the resulting lessons to the overall work of Everyday Democracy.

S/he will provide coaching and assistance (by telephone, email, and in person) to local community coalitions that are using public dialogue and collaborative problem solving to address a range of issues – including racial equity, poverty, education reform, children’s issues, and neighborhood issues. The Program Director will also contribute to a range of written materials, and engage in ongoing learning about community building, participatory democracy, and social and political change.

The successful candidate will have experience strengthening multi-racial, multi-cultural groups and a collaborative, consultative approach to the work. S/he will possess agility to respond quickly to changing group dynamics, and an ability to convey complex and sensitive information clearly and with sensitivity. S/he will demonstrate a deep understanding of racial equity, and a commitment to continuous learning, both personally and in his/her community work. The ability to speak, listen and lead in a wide variety of community situations, with cultural competence and respect, will be key.

Vice President, Finance and Operations

Everyday Democracy seeks a seasoned financial and operational leader with a passion for Everyday Democracy’s mission and a demonstrated commitment to its values to serve as Vice President of Finance and Operations. The Vice President of Finance and Operations (VPFO) will play a key role in organization-wide planning, management, and strategy while overseeing finances, human resources, operations, and information technology. S/he will be part of a senior management team that, in addition to the president, includes the directors of technical assistance and communications.Other members of the broader management team include directors of administration, operations, and diversity and inclusion.
